General Messages for Prospective Students |
I am looking for highly motivated graduate (especially Ph.D.) and undergraduate students to do cutting edge research on the next generation computing system designs, including both hardware (e.g. processor, memory, I/O, storage, interconnection, sensors/embedded systems, application-specific devices/platforms) and software (e.g. applications, operating systems, compilers and managed run-time systems). Previous experience in computer organization and architecture, logic design, system software, compiler, programming language and its run-time support is not required although it is highly recommended (especially for Ph.D’s). Experience in programming (e.g. C) is a must since most of my research projects are simulation or implementation driven. Moreover, computer architecture and system research involves significant amounts of instrumentation, benchmarking, experiments and quantitative analysis.
My areas of research include high performance, low-power, reconfigurable, dependable and secure computer systems, computing technology for application specific systems, and the impacts of technology trends (e.g. bio/nano-computing) on computer designs. If you have an area that you would like to work in, let me know as I am always looking to work in new and exciting areas related with computing technology and platforms.

If you are a UF Undergraduate Student in Computer
Engineering …. |
I highly encourage you to come and work with our group as research is an extremely rewarding and fulfilling experience. As an undergraduate, there is a good chance that you will be able to publish 1 or 2 research papers while working during the school year or the summer. In addition, such experience will greatly help you for your future graduate study, internships and permanent positions at various companies which include Intel, IBM, AMD, Dell, HP, Sun, Microsoft, Texas Instruments and Motorola.

If you are a UF Graduate Student interested in Computer
Engineering …. |
I am particularly interested in Ph.D. students with interest in computer systems and have strong background in computer architecture, compilers, low power VLSI, bioinformatics, security, embedded/application specific systems, optimizations and operating systems. If you feel comfortable with one or two fields, please feel free to contact with me, and I will try my best to help you to find a research topic and to fund your research. Meanwhile, I strongly recommend that you take EEL 5764/6935 (Computer Architecture/Billion Transistor Computer Architecture) or do an individual research study with me before I consider you as my research assistant.

If you are a Graduate Student outside of University of
Florida …. |
Please make sure that you read up on my research first. If you simply send me a generic form e-mail, your response may be delayed indefinitely. I will be much more inspired to read your CV and other information if you show more than a casual interest in my research. Do not send me your CV in your first e-mail. Please look over the information to see if any of the immediate areas interest you. Do feel free to ask questions regarding my research or comment on items that you are interested in.
